Located between the Caribbean and the Gulf of Mexico, the Yucatan Peninsula is a tropical paradise. It’s one of the most popular tourist spots in all of Mexico. Now that flights to the Yucatán are so inexpensive from major cities, more and more people are visiting. Cancn, a renowned beach and nightlife destination, is just one of many exciting places to visit on the peninsula of Mexico. We spent 15 days exploring this beautiful part of Mexico and learning about its rich history and delicious cuisine. Renting a car is the most practical option for seeing the sights on this peninsula. Starting from Cancun International Airport, we describe our journey to the Sian Ka’an Biosphere Reserve by way of Tulum and Akumal. We also went to the stunning colonial city of Campeche and its neighboring ruins of Bacalar and Calakmul.
